Okay. This doesn't have much to do with cheap veganism per se, BUT - yes, you just saw a big BUT - it does have to do with doing things frugally, naturally, and environmentally friendly-ly. Where I live we have well water, and it has gobs of calcium (the kind of calcium that cases kidney stones, not the kind that builds strong teeth and bones). Because of this, our toilets, bathtubs and sinks get really gross from the calcium build-up. We used to use all kinds of fun chemically stuff and it didn't do too much. Then my mom triEd plain ol' white vinegar and her bathtub was sparkling white. Sparkling white tubs are a raRe occurrence around here. Sparkling white anything is a rarity around here, come to think of it.
Vinegar is much cheaper than any "NEW and IMPROVED!" chemical concoction you'll buy, and it's better for you and anyone else in your house. You also won't be supporting companies that possibly test their "NEW AND IMPROVED!" products on animals. Just fill your sink and tub with a good amount of white vinegar and some water, let it soak for awhile (30 minutes or so), then scrub it a little with a sponge, rag or brush. Oh, happy joy! To clean your toilet bowl, put some venegar in a spray or squirt bottle, squirt it wherever you need it and scrub. Cleaning the bathroom isn't quite so bad now.
